Rescues Currently in Need at CMHR

Thank you for your continued support!  CMHR has taken in a record number of rescues thus far in 2008 and our funds are low.  With hay shortages in many parts of the country and fuel prices through the roof nationwide, we don't expect the frequency of horses being turned over to decrease any time soon.  So please, if you can help us with a monetary (or other) donation, it will be VERY MUCH appreciated!  Your contributions are what makes it possible for us to continue to help the horses in need.

Below is a brief description of CMHR horses that are presently in foster homes and are now ready for adoption. We will be happy to give you any further information that we can on any of our horses and their backgrounds if we know it. The city and state of their whereabouts is listed for you to submit to the transport company of your choice for a shipping quote. Do not hesitate to contact us! Our horses need kind, loving homes and we are here to help place them in yours. Thank You! Please take a look at these angels and let us know if you would like additional information on them!

Watch here for more Rescues to be added.  We are anticipating a flood in rescues and turnovers this year!

Snip - 2008

Snip is a fancy sorrel 4 year old gelding. He is in the 34-35” range. He leads well, stands tied, backs, whoas, accepts fly spray and cookies very well. He'll follow you anywhere like a puppy. Not shy or spooky and is easy to catch. Lots of potential. He loves Soldier. Located in Weimer,Texas.

NOTE: Snip and Soldier were rescued from the same location and could be half brothers. We think they were someone's beloved babies at one time as they show they have been raised with much trustand kindness. They are mannered and complete love bugs. Their foster homer sings their praises and
says they will make someone wonderful horses. We prefer Snip and Soldier be adopted out together. With their willing and loving disposition, they could become a wonderful matched driving team for you!

Soldier - 2008

Soldier is a sorrel gelding and cute as he can be. He is 4 years old and in the 34-35” range. He leads well, stands tied, backs, whoas, accepts fly spray and cookies very well. He'll follow you anywhere like a puppy.  Not shy or spooky and easy to catch. Lots of potential. He loves Snip. Located in Weimer, Texas.

Ben - 2008

Ben is 34” palomino gelding. He is a little difficult to handle but once he is haltered he settles right down nicely and is becoming more friendly by the day. Ben needs a soft spoken low keyed home because he does get a little tense around loud people. Located in Durant, Oklahoma.

NOTE: Ben and Sparky were rescued from the same location in Kansas. They are both teenagers and we are presently waiting to have their exact age determined. We think (but cannot confirm) that Ben and Sparky are half brothers and have been part of a 6 hitch driving team for many years. They are constant companions and stick together like glue 24-7 and are a near perfect match in size and build. They are always on the same side of each other. They walk, turn, and move in perfect unison and are amazing to watch doing this on their own in the field and we do not want to split them up. Available for adoption as a pair.

Sparky - 2008

Sparky is red roan gelding in the 34” range. He is hard to handle at times and he is a bit pushy. He has not been socialized much to humans. He is stand-offfish but he is being worked with in his foster home on all the basics. Located in Durant, Oklahoma.

Jasmine - 2008

Jasmine is a beautiful dapple grey mare, between the ages of 6-8. She is quiet and sweet and very trusting. She craves love and attention and is very nice to be around. She is a little nippy but that is being worked out of her at her foster home. Can’t say we blame her as she was starving to death. She is gaining weight and coming along very well. She is about 34-35.” Video available on request. Located in Cyril, Oklahoma.

Little Dun - 2008

Little Dun is a pretty .ittle dun colored mare. She measures in the 36” range. We think she is a 3 year old and we will update when we learn her exact age. She is shy and gaining confidence daily in her foster home. She also may be pregnant and will update as soon as we know for sure. Located in Durant,Oklahoma.

Patty - 2008

Patty is a 40" red dun pony, with a dorsal stripe and shoulder barring. She is built long and rangy. Her coggins paper says she is 3 years old but we have reason to believe she is older and she may also be pregnant. (We will update on this as soon as we know). Patty is easy to catch, craves attention, and loves a stall. She enjoys grooming but will kick when her back legs are touched. Her foster homer is working with her daily to overcome that. Located in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  "Adoption pending"

Feather Duster - 2008

Feather Duster is a black gelding about 15 years old and 32”. What a darling little guy Dusty is. This tiny boy is quite the giant of a character and is somewhat spooky due to blindness in one eye. Dusty needs someone who will be fully attentive when leading him and working with him whom he can learn to build a solid trusting relationship with. Located in Brookston,Texas.
